Symptoms of teenage depression

Teen years is a hard time and many teenagers face depression at this point of life. Most of the time, we become confused teenage depression with mood swings and melancholic nature and that makes it most complicated to diagnose and treat it. Teenage depression is far more prevalent than it is thought to be. Now childhood and teenage depression is reality and it is one of the most crucial facts. It is proved from the researches that adolescents and teenagers are affected by depression problem. The most amazing thing is 20 years ago depression in children was almost unknown fact but now it is a booming fact in teenagers. Chemical imbalance is not only the fact of depression because there are many causes.

Here are the symptoms of teenage depression

* Always have a  downward trend in performance at school or college.
* Change in personal hygiene and appearance.
* Destructive and/or defiant behavior.
* Hallucinations or unusual beliefs.
* Appetite or weight has changed considerably (has lost or gained a substantial amount of weight)
* May appear restless, agitated (pacing, wringing hands) or has slowed down (e.g., spends hours staring in front, finds it hard to move)
* Has lost a lot of energy, complains of feeling tired all the time.
* Complaints of feeling guilty or worthless (‘everything is my fault’, ‘I am bad’)
* Belief that life is not worth living.
