Some Tips for Dealing with Post Partum Depression

Recent research reveals that postpartum depression is best treated with therapies rather than medications and drugs. While most of the times the symptoms of postpartum depression usually fades without any medications, there are certain cases in which the new mothers are badly affected, and they need help.

Baby blues or postpartum depression is very common in mothers. An estimated 75-85 percent new mothers experience these symptoms within the first three to seven days, whilst some others might experience the same within a couple of week or even much later. It is an immense hurdle for a mother as she is left alone feeling depressed, anxious and restless for no logical reason.

Almost 13 percent of the mothers who have been affected by postpartum depression have been relieved by counseling and peer support. In fact, they have recovered much faster than expected.

Counseling with a doctor, a psychologists or someone close in the family can be a great relief for this problem. It is a good way of coping up with the feelings and also enabling the mother to resolve her problem.
