Depression is a condition which not only affects adults but also takes place in children which is a treatable mental illness. Psychotic depression is a mental illness which occurs when the thoughts of depression continue and interfere with a child’s aptitude. About 5 % of children of the total population suffer from psychotic depression. If a child is suffering from psychotic depression, he or she may experience symptoms like an auditory hallucination that is the child may hears some voices. Even though it is understandable to everyone that there are no voices but for the child, they are real. The dangerous part of this is most of the patients with auditory hallucinations may hurt themselves or others. This is because the child is not capable to differentiate between the voices of her mental disease and real voices. Visual Hallucinations is another symptom which is seen in psychotic depressive children, it just like the auditory hallucinations, but the difference is the visual, this symptom contains images and the child believes that they are very real. Experiencing these kinds of delusions frequently makes your children to feel paranoiac, as if somebody is looking at them or coming after them. Don’t worry; the above symptoms happen only in the most severe stage of depression. The good news is that these symptoms will disappear soon with treatment. |
