Memory loss due to depression

Depression has a broader meaning than one can imagine. It is one of the common mental illnesses that can have debilitating effects on your health, and that includes both the mental and the physical aspects.

Depression leads to loss of appetite, loss of sleep, decreased sex drive and memory loss as well. As scientists have finally identified that there is a strong link between the mind, moods and the memory, it has been clear now that depression can affect the memory drastically.

Memory is the function of that part of the brain that is hobbled due to depression. A person becomes forgetful, suffers from trauma and fails to take decisions as well. This results due to a potential chemical imbalance occurring in the body. It is the neurotransmitters that enable us to talk and memories, and when these are affected, we fail.

As depression is a form of sad emotion, people try to recall the bad memories when they are depressed and these emotions play havoc on their mind, which eventually leads to forgetfulness.
