Functions of Antidepressant

Certain disorders like anxiety disorders, eating disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder are often treated using the antidepressants.  Besides, it is also helpful in the treatment of certain disorders that are hormone-mediated. Antidepressants can be used for the treatment of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). For this to happen, anticonvulsants should also be used along with the antidepressants. Migraines and snoring are two major problems that are found very commonly. If migraine is painful then, snoring is embarrassing. However, the good thing is that both can be treated by using antidepressants. In clinical trials, a substance is recognized as antidepressant it must show placebo efficacy at a superior level. Sometimes, the term is also applied to certain therapies like psychotherapy, acupuncture therapy, electro-convulsive therapy. However, there should be no confusion regarding the use of the term antidepressants for the term therapy. It is called so because it relieves an individual of stress which is what a therapy does as well.
