Facts about the symptoms of Unipolar Depression

The term “unipolar disorder” is used sometimes to differentiate the mood disturbance from the character of bipolar depression. A unipolar disorder patient never has the symptoms of bipolar disorders. The basic symptoms of Unipolar disorder is feeling chronically sad or empty on a consistent basis for at least 2 weeks. Upswing in mood, like feeling elated or on top of the world is not the part of unipolar disorder. Anhedonia is also a symptom of Unipolar disorder. Here a patient loses pleasure from the work once enjoyed. These symptoms can stay together as mood disorder. Disturbance in sleeping is also a part of unipolar disorder. Another unipolar disorder symptom is feeling lethargic with a loss of energy. These symptoms contribute to being unmotivated, moving slowly, feeling guilty for lack of accomplishment and the inability to concentrate. Having thoughts of death, dying or suicide is a symptom of unipolar depression. Suicide gestures or attempts can result if the unipolar depression goes untreated. |
