Facts about Atypical Depression

Atypical depression is characterized by mood reactivity which improves when a person is subjected to positive events and is a subtype of the major depression. A sufferer will feel deeply depressed or hopeful depending on the situation at hand. In addition, the mood of the person will brighten up when enjoy some outdoor activities or when dinning up with friends or when they are enjoying a good movie.

However, when the sufferer is alone the mood changes and he will go back into the dark depths of depression. This type of depression is slightly different from the major depression as it is a variation of it. The sufferer of atypical depression sometimes experiences moments of happiness and elation and it is seen as a form of depression that is not serious.
There are however several symptoms of atypical depression that include oversleeping, fatigue, weight gain and overeating.
