Depression and overeating

People usually depend on eating when they are depressed, and this defines the relationship between depression and overeating. Whilst depression is often considered to be a result of chemical imbalance that can be treated with medications and therapies, it is also considered to be symptoms that results because of a person’s inability to cope up with overwhelming emotions and stress.

When there are too many emotions coming up, the best solution to numb this is food. Food actually helps in pushing away the emotions and allows a person to feel relaxed and revived once again. Food not only makes you fat, but it all drains all the energy to maintain your emotional balance, as a result, you continue to eat and depression controls you.

Overeating actually feeds depression, which is why it seems to be the simplest way to come out of everything that is disturbing. But ignorantly, you are actually getting much deeper and deeper in to the burden of depression with foods being only a momentary source of relief.

Emotional eaters realize that their eating habits are not normal, yet they fail to control themselves. This is a pathetic condition that needs both counseling and medication for quick recovery.
