Carbolith is a medication that the doctor prescribes to treat depression, bipolar disorder and other mental conditions that the patient might have. Carbolith belongs to a group of medications called mood stabilizers.

The affects of the medication transport the sodium that is within the cells which causes the metabolism to change with the catecholamines, also known as hormones that become active whenever there is physical or emotional stress with the patient. The results of Carbolith might vary with the patients depending on the mental condition of the patients and the dosage that the doctor gives. At first the doctor starts out with a small dose and then the doctor slowly builds up the dose until the patient starts to feel better. Patients should not stop taking Carbolith without the doctor knowing about it. If the patient stops taking Carbolith then they might worsen the condition. When the patient starts feeling good and notices a change then the patient should contact the doctor and see if the dosage should be changed.
