Can you have depression due to hormonal problems?

There is a connection between depression and the hormones. Women who belong to the age group of 20-45 years are more vulnerable depression compared to men. Change in hormonal levels may also give rise to depression. It can well be understood by taking a look at the manner in which variations in the hormonal levels can cause depression. If the level of hormones is steady, then there is no problem. But the problem of depression starts appearing if there is an imbalance or bouncing in the hormonal levels. The women who are at the stages of menopause are more prone to this danger. Hormonal levels are linked with depression because both the factors play a significant role in bringing about alterations or change in the mood. This in turn, gives rise to mood problems which develops in to depression later on.. Depression caused as a result of change in the hormonal levels can bring certain changes in the thought process of an individual. Firstly, it generates the feelings of guilt and worthlessness. Secondly, it diminishes or brings down the ability of thinking in an individual. It can also prevent an individual from making swift and appropriate decisions. Lastly, it can also generate the desire for death or suicide in an individual’s mind.
