Antidepressants: Discussion on Side Effects

Virtually, all the medicines come with a few side effects.  Antidepressants which are psychiatric medications are not an exception to the fact. Those women, who become pregnant accidentally, while on the course of its dosage, should consult a doctor as soon as possible. This would minimize the chances of risks or complications. As breastfeeding is very important for the new born baby, it is wise to consult a doctor in such cases. However, studies have established the fact that there is no problem in continuing the dosage of antidepressant along with HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy). Though side effects are seen during the dosage of antidepressants, it varies from person to person and does not happen in all the people. Those who take SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor), certain side effects like nausea, diarrhea, nervousness and sleeplessness become visible. Besides these side effects, certain other side effects like loss of weight, migraines and certain sexual problems also start to appear. Those who take tricyclic antidepressant may develop certain side effects like constipation, vision problems, fatigue, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, weight gain and sexual problems. The same side effects are also seen with the other antidepressants as well.
